John Taylor's 1981 Corvette engine bay. Original 350CI small block V8 with bolt on modifications.Best 1/4 mile results with original close ratio Super T-10 Transmission and 2.73 rear end ratio (Daytona gears!!!) a surprising 14.59@102.7 mph using basically only the first two gears and a lot of wheelspin to get any launch at all! Hope to replace trans with a Richmond 5-speed to remedy the steep first gear problem. Engine mods include:high perf. open element air cleaner with K&N filter; Holley 750cfm competition carburator; Edelrock Performer RPM  intake; Chevy 305 H.O. heads with .510 lift springs and pinned studs; roller tip 1.5 ratio rocker arms; chrome molly pushrods; Crane hydraulic .284 duration / .480 lift cam; Accel Super Coil; Dynomax Jet Hot coated headers; full dual exhaust and flowmaster mufflers.Suspension mods include:1&1/4 inch front sway bar; Vette Brakes F40 front springs; urethane bushings throughout; J-56 brakes,Porterfield rotors,carbon fiber brake pads, KYB shocks and Vette Brakes 360 lb. rear fiberglass spring. Car weights 3251 lbs.with a full tank of gas and is perfectly balanced on all four corners as weighed on SCCA scales.-JT
